Antonio Ciro Patrizio Preziosi (Taranto, March 16, 1967)
is an Italian journalist and essayist, serving as the director of TG2 since May 25, 2023.

Biography and Career

Born in Taranto and raised in Pisticci, in the province of Matera, he developed a passion for journalism, radio, and television from a very young age.
He began his journalistic career at the local station Poliradio in Policoro during the 1980s.
He graduated with honors in law from La Sapienza University in Rome, with a thesis on the “protection of human rights.” Later, between 1992 and 1994, he earned a master’s degree from the School of Radio and Television Journalism in Perugia.

For the next three years, he worked at the Rai office in Palermo before moving to Giornale Radio Rai as a parliamentary journalist, Vatican correspondent, and editor-in-chief with personal responsibilities. Specifically, he covered the activities of the Prodi II, D’Alema I and II, Amato II, and Berlusconi II, III, and IV governments. Additionally, he provided live commentary on significant national and international political events, such as the United Nations General Assemblies, G7 and G8 summits, European Council sessions, and bilateral meetings between major European and global leaders.

On August 10, 2009, the Rai Board of Directors appointed him director of Radio Uno and Giornale Radio, replacing Antonio Caprarica.
From April 2010 to September 2011, he served as interim director of GR Parlamento, following the passing of Riccardo Berti.
Between 2009 and 2011 (until the company’s dissolution), he was a board member of Audiradio.

On December 29, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
Since 2012, he has been a board member of the Vatican Television Center.
Alongside his work at Rai, he has written monographs, contributed articles to various magazines, and engaged in public speaking.

In March 2014, following a unanimous resolution by the Rai Board of Directors, he stepped down from his roles as director of Radio Uno and Giornale Radio, succeeded by Flavio Mucciante.
A year later, he was reassigned within the TG2 newsroom structure by Director General Luigi Gubitosi.
Since December 30, 2015, he has served as Rai’s correspondent in Brussels.
From November 27, 2018, to May 24, 2023, he was the director of Rai Parlamento.
On May 25, 2023, he was appointed director of TG2, succeeding Nicola Rao.

Under his leadership, the news program has experienced a significant decline in viewership and has faced accusations from some critics of giving excessive coverage to Forza Italia’s secretary, Antonio Tajani.

He has taught journalism at the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli (LUISS) in Rome and served as a lecturer for the Master’s in Digital Journalism at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.
