He began his career in the same University, first as a researcher and then as an Associate Professor; from 2001 to 2014, on the other hand, he was at the University of Milan Bicocca first as an Extraordinary Professor and then as Full Professor in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.
He was the Director of the School of Specialization in Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Care, Director of the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Urgency of the IRCCS Cà Granda Foundation Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico; previously he also held similar roles at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza
