Paccosi Giovanni
Mons. Giovanni Paccosi is a member of the clergy of the Diocese of Florence. He was born on June 2, 1960, in Florence, and was elected Bishop of San Miniato on December 24, 2022.
He was consecrated as a bishop in the Cathedral of Florence on February 5, 2023, and made his entrance into the Diocese of San Miniato on February 26, 2023, the First Sunday of Lent.
Mons. Giovanni Paccosi was born on June 2, 1960, in Florence, in the Province and Archdiocese of Florence. During his higher studies, he became a member of the Communion and Liberation movement, of which he became one of the representatives. After completing theological studies at the Archdiocesan Seminary of Florence, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Florence on April 4, 1985.
From 1985 to 1988, he was an assistant parish vicar at Santa Maria in Scandicci (FI), and from 1988 to 1989 at Santa Maria a Novoli in Florence. From 1989 to 1996, he served as the parish priest of San Martino a Strada in Bagno a Ripoli (FI), and from 1996 to 2001, he served as the parish priest of Santa Maria a Coverciano in Florence. In 2001, he was sent as a Fidei Donum priest to the Diocese of Carabayllo in the district of Lima, Peru, where he was appointed parish priest of Santa María de la Reconciliación, responsible for university pastoral care at the Catholic University “Sedes Sapientiae” in Carabayllo, teacher and coordinator of the Area of Anthropology and Theology, and responsible for the formation of young clergy in the diocese.
In 2005, he obtained a License in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology in Lima, in 2006 a License in Secondary Education with a specialization in Philosophy and Religion from the Catholic University “Sedes Sapientiae,” and finally, in 2015, a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Theological Faculty of Central Italy.
Since 2016, he has been the parish priest of Gesù Buon Pastore in Casellina, Scandicci (FI). At the same time, he resumed teaching Catholic Religion at the local Scientific Lyceum, and since 2017, he has been the Director of the Diocesan Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Church Building until August 2022.
From 2019 to 2022, he served as Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care in the Archdiocese of Florence.
As a member of Communion and Liberation, he is the appointed Visitor of the Communities in Central American countries. Since August 2022, he has been responsible for Latin America in the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation.

2020-2022: Coordinator of the diocesan committee for Don Lorenzo Milani.
