Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Insubria, where, among other responsibilities, he teaches the only Italian course dedicated to science fiction: Science and science fiction in media and literature. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and of the SETI Committee of the International Academy of Astronautics, an interdisciplinary study group for the search for intelligent life in the cosmos. Since 2020 he has been Scientific Director of the international research center InCosmiCon (Intelligence in the Cosmic Context). He has published 6 books and about 80 articles. He has authored the Science Fiction entry in Parole del XXI Secolo, update volume of the famous Treccani Encyclopedia.
