Gasparri Maurizio

Maurizio Gasparri was born in Rome on July 18, 1956. He is a professional journalist and has served as co-editor of the newspaper “Il Secolo d’Italia”. He has been a member of Parliament since 1992, and in 1994, during the first Berlusconi government, he held the position of Undersecretary of the Interior. In 2001, he became the Minister of Communications.  Il Codice delle Comunicazioni and the “Legge Gasparri” which reorganizes the radio and television system, are among the main achievements of his government activity. “Fare il Futuro” is the book-interview in which he reflects on his experience leading the Ministry. 

He was elected to the Senate in 2008, reconfirmed in 2013 and 2018, and has held the positions of leader of the Popolo delle Libertà party and Vice President of the Senate, as well as President of the Committee for Elections and Parliamentary Immunities. He was reconfirmed at Palazzo Madama in the 2022 elections and returned to the position of Vice President of the Senate. He is a writer and co-author of “L’età dell’Intelligenza” (1984), and in 2007, he published “Il cuore a destra” and in 2009, “Il viaggio del popolo della Libertà.”
