President of Confcooperative
Born in Forlì on December 13, 1959, the city where he currently resides, he is married and has two children.
Professional CV and main roles
On January 31, 2013, he was elected President of Confcooperative, the main organization representing Italian cooperatives with 17,000 associated companies, 540,000 employees, 3.1 million members and 81 billion euros in turnover.
Since 2000, he has been at the helm of the most important Italian agri-food cooperative: Conserve Italia, which operates in the fruit and vegetable processing sector, with production and marketing facilities in Italy and abroad (total turnover just under 1 billion euros).
From 2009 to 2013 he was President of Fedagri-Confcooperative, the federation of 3,500 agri-food cooperatives, which generate a total turnover of 26 billion euros.
From 1996 to January 2013 he was President of Confcooperative Emilia Romagna (1,800 cooperatives, 280,000 members and a turnover of 12.5 billion euros), after having previously led the Regional Agricultural Council.
He is President of Fondosviluppo S.p.A., a company that works for the development and promotion of cooperation.
He is President of the Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and of the Association of Foundations of Emilia Romagna.
Finally, he holds positions at leading fruit and vegetable cooperatives in Emilia-Romagna: Agrintesa and Apo Conerpo, the largest association of fruit and vegetable producers in Italy, of which he is a member of the Board of Directors.
Education and training
He obtained a degree in Agricultural Sciences in 1983 from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bologna.
He is a member of the National Academy of Agriculture of Bologna.
