Forti Micol
Micol Forti has been the director of the Collection of Contemporary Art at the Vatican Museums since 2000. After specializing and obtaining a PhD in art history, she taught art literature and museology at Sapienza University of Rome from 2001 to 2015. Her research interests range from 20th-century art history and criticism to the subject of contemporary sacred art and pontifical collecting, as well as aspects related to the history of the conservation of historical and artistic heritage. Since 2011, she has been a consultant for the Pontifical Council for Culture and a member of its Women’s Consultation Committee since its establishment in 2015. She is part of various scientific committees for specialized journals, conferences, research institutes, and international award juries. She has curated numerous international conferences and exhibition projects, including the Vatican Pavilion at the 55th and 56th Venice Art Biennales in 2013 and 2015, respectively, and the first Vatican Pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in 2018.
