Fontana Attilio
Attilio Fontana was born in Varese on March 28, 1952; father of three children – Maria Cristina, Giovanni and Marzia – and a criminal lawyer who has owned a law firm located in Varese since 1980, he graduated in Law in 1975 from the University of Milan. From 1979 to 1982 he held the position of Conciliator of Induno Olona and from 1983 to 1988 that of Honorary Deputy Magistrate before the Gavirate Magistrate’s Court. From 2009 to 2017 he was a member of the board of directors and deputy vice president of Fiera Milano.
His political activity began with the birth of the Lega Nord; from 1995 to 1999 he was mayor of the municipality of Induno Olona; Mayor of Varese elected in the first round in 2006 and confirmed in 2011, during these years he also held the position of President of ANCI Lombardia (from 2009 to 2014); he then became regional councilor of Lombardy and President of the regional council from 2000 to 2005.
In 2018 he accepted the candidacy for president of the Lombardy Region and won the March 4 elections with 49.75 percent of the vote. He is reappointed in 2023.
