Farouq Wael
Wael Farouq, PhD in Arabic language and literature, is a professor of Arabic language at the Università Cattolica of Milan. He has also taught Arabic at the American University in Cairo from 2005 to 2016 and was a Straus Fellow for the 2011-2012 academic year at the Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law and Justice at New York University. He is the author of numerous publications in the fields of linguistics, literary studies, and Arab-Islamic religious philosophy.
Since March 2020, he has been an Associate Professor of Arabic language and literature at the Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.
From 2012 to 2019, he was a contract lecturer in Arabic language and culture at the Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
From 2011 to 2012, he was a Straus Fellow at the Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law and Justice, New York University, USA.
From 2006 to 2015, he taught Arabic language at the Arab Language Institute (ALI) of the American University in Cairo.
From 2006 to 2007, he was a lecturer in Islamic history and philosophy at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Cairo.
From 2005 to 2010, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Law of the University of Macerata.
He is a member of the Executive Committee and the Scientific Committee of the Arabic Language Research Center (CARA), Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
He is the coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the International Festival of Arabic Language and Culture at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Egyptian Academy of Literary Criticism (Al-Jam’iyya al-Misriyya lil-naqd al-adabī).
He is the director of the translation series from and into Arabic for the publishing house Al Mutawassit (Milan/Baghdad).
He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Bara’at” series of the publishing house Al Mutawassit (Milan/Baghdad).
