Fadda Matteo
Life
Matteo Fadda is the new General Manager of the Pope John XXIII Community, elected by the General Assembly in Rimini on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Fadda is the third General Manager after founder Don Oreste Benzi and Giovanni Paolo Ramonda, who led it for 15 years after Don Benzi’s death.
Matteo Fadda, born Feb. 1, 1973, is married to Carla Daviso and father of four natural children and has been in the Community since 2005. He grew up in the city of Turin, in a large family with three other siblings and full of stimuli. He came to know the Pope John XXIII Community through family foster care.
He was formed on a spiritual level at the school of Father Gasparino. Meeting Don Oreste Benzi, whom he considers a great witness of lived faith, only confirmed the choices of openness to life that he and his wife were pondering. Matteo and Carla were married in 1999. Love blossomed within the walls of the parish where they attended the same group first as “animates” and then as animators. In their journey as a couple there is a great desire to multiply their love, but they do not yet know how. So they opened themselves to welcoming foster children and people without families by becoming an open family of the Pope John XXIII Community in San Giorgio Canavese (TO), where they still live today.
Responsibilities
Fadda has been in charge of Pope John in the Turin area and in Liguria and is currently president of “Sharing Among Peoples,” the NGO promoted by Pope John to manage projects in countries abroad. He is also in charge of Operation Dove, the Community’s nonviolent civilian peace corps, and vice-president of the “Senza Confini” association in Asti, promoted by Pope John XXIII itself.
