Dieci Giorgio
Giorgio Dieci is Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Parma. His research field is the regulation of gene expression: how the instructions contained in the genetic material are implemented to allow for the cell’s self-fabrication and the organism’s life. Furthermore, in collaboration with philosophers, he carries out interdisciplinary research on the nature of organisms. After obtaining a PhD degree in Molecular Biology and Pathology, he worked (1993-1995) as EMBO post-doctoral fellow at the CEA of Saclay (France). He has been responsible for numerous national and international projects, including a collaborative program funded by the Human Frontier Science Program. He was President of the Degree course in Biology (2011-2013) and Director of the Department of Chemistry, Life Sciences and Environmental Sustainability of the University of Parma (2017-2019). For about ten years he has been participating in the cultural activities of the Euresis association.
