Jesús Carrascosa, a life-changing encounter
“It is with deep gratitude,” said Bernhard Scholz, president of the Meeting, “that we remember our dear friend Jesús Carrascosa. His unwavering faith and irresistible friendship have always been a source of encouragement and support for the experience of the Meeting. His extraordinary friendliness and ability to create relationships with and between the most diverse people was an immense gift to all of us. Carras, as he was called by his friends, left in the Meeting the trace of a desire for commitment that was as serene as it was responsible for a communion that becomes leaven for a more human and truer world.”
As a sign of our gratitude, we publish his testimony at the 2001 Meeting. “Since 1975, when my wife and I met Fr. Giussani...” In this way on that occasion Carrascosa, introducing a conference at the Meeting, began his story of the encounter that changed his life, expanding it to the ends of the world.
As he himself says, “an absolutely unimaginable experience, because I had never seen a Christianity that had anything to do with my life, with my reason, that allowed me to talk to anyone, to discuss with anyone, with a reasonableness and reasons that allowed me to make certain statements with dignity as a man.”
These are Carras' participations at the Meeting.
