Is it possible to live the work up to one’s desires?
From what can the creativity and positivity of man start in facing reality, in a context of generalized uncertainty?
These are the questions that run through the entire path of the exhibition, an immersive journey and
engaging that rereads today’s crisis starting from another great crisis, the one resulting from the
Fall of the Western Roman Empire. Without anyone having planned it, the network of Christian monasteries spread from the fourth century and throughout the Middle Ages, it formed the backbone of spiritual, social, urban and cultural rebirth, of Europe, on its knees after the dissolution of the imperial structure. The work of systematic reclamation, innovation in agricultural and manufacturing production processes, the invention of original techniques in multiple fields of application, combined with immense work accomplished in the preservation and transmission of ancient knowledge, in study and research, have established the know-how that the extraordinary communication network in place between the monastic communities has spread widely among all European peoples. Where did this creative fruitfulness come from? What are the constitutive factors of this new individual and collective personality capable of so much generative force? In the current context of world crisis, between wars, pandemics and uncertainty about the future, what can trigger in man a gaze capable of building, starting from reality, experiences of novelty and of the common good?
Today as then, generative “places” are possible and present among lay people who, through a work systematic education of the gaze, testify to the possibility of taste and self-fulfillment, in life and work. Testimonies that challenge and invite you to desire “more”, available to all those who have not stopped searching.
