The room of memory
‘The «ars memoriae» or «art of memory», established in the West only from the C17th, was so called because of the creative possibilities connected with the infinite combinations of images prepared ad hoc in order to be memorised. According to Giordano Bruno, whose writings and images (recreated by Walter Patriarca for the Jaca Book typesetting) are presented in this exhibition, the art of memory was above all an application of magic.’
