Wars, earthquakes, and the aging of buildings sometimes urgently and dramatically highlight the need to intervene to rebuild what has been destroyed or damaged or to regenerate obsolete building complexes in historic city centers. The question arises of recognizing what is essential so that the uniqueness and meaning of the past are not lost, and the new reaffirms the vocation of a place for people. The “Design for Peace” exhibition offers a view of the tragedy in Ukraine and opens up the hope for peace and reconstruction, while the theme of urban regeneration calls attention to the need to redefine the values and functions of the new city.
