In occasion of the 20th anniversary of the italian release of Rowling’s books, the exibith addresses the saga’s themes with an unusual and original point of view. 2019 meeting’s title ‘nacque il tuo nome da ciò che fissavi’ guided us during the preparation: we wanted to dig more deeply in the knowledge of the different charachters. We weren’t content with the parting beetween ‘bad guys’ and ‘good guys’, light and shadow, we wanted to look them in the eye and ask them: “but who are you? what’s your true face?” we discovered unexpected details and limits in our “good guys” and light glimmers in the “bad ones”. We saw that even them, like us, are very complex realities and they are packed with misteries. Experiences and choices mark their way, but there’s always for everyone the possibility of choosing to embrace our “dark side” or to abandon it. What lets us choose good? The strenght of feeling loved. By parents, ready to make the extreme sacrifice, by friends who give themselves for us effortlessly, by teachers who with their autority sustain us in the growth path. This exibition lets us discover some aspects of the saga that remain often unknown or that are overlooked or misinterpreted by people who consider it only fantasy literature destined to children, while it really is a proper coming-of-age novel where the setting in the magical world remains in the background and isn’t the focal point of the story.
