This will be the 5th edition of the MEETING RIMINI FILM FESTIVAL, an international short film competition organized by the Meeting for Friendship Amongst Peoples, in collaboration with Made Officina Creativa, the School of Visual Arts in New York, the Accademia del Cinema e della Televisione in Rome, Radio Cinema, and Best Movie, the most popular film magazine in Italy.
The competition, open to filmmakers of all ages, was born with the intention to showcase works that relate and delve, with authenticity, into the subject of man’s involvement in his daily life, revealing aspects that are serious, ironic, dramatic, passionate, mysterious. With the aim of sharing the human and professional itinerary of searching, discovery, and judgment, the Festival offers its participants the opportunity to encounter well-known experts in the field.
In recent years, the festival has had the honor of being presided over by experts from the cinema world like Pupi Avati (2008), noted Italian actor Gigio Alberti (2009), Italian director Massimo d’Alatri (2010), and Polish director and producer Krzysztof Zanussi (2011).
Starting in 2010, the synergy expanded to international levels, contributing to the creation of a new festival in Spain (Encuentro Madrid), as well as one in Poland during Culture Carousel, a multi-day cultural event in Swinoujscie.
The competition’s prizes include a 10-week period of study at the School of Visual Arts in New York, a scholarship for one year of study at the Accademia del Cinema e della Televisione in Rome’s Cinecittà, and 1,000 euro.
