The human person at work. The greatness of building
Curated by Riccardo Castellanza, Francesca Giussani, Martino Negri, Fabio Tradigo, Maddalena Sala. With the collaboration of Luigi Benatti, Paolo Morlacchi
Building is a great thing and it is primarily about having a purpose and sharing it with others. Building is also to be guided by someone who is dedicated to this path someone who should be, willingly or unwillingly, followed.
To build, it is necessary to follow the order that already exists and it is also necessary to do them in order. Building is participating in creation, which is the first work of God. Everyone makes a piece everyone has a part . His little piece. Humbly. Daily, repetitively, trivially. Building is therefore working.
Every piece, every job, every moment the construction is being done , is important because we need that thing and it will remains. We build something, but through that we also build ourselves. You grow up. Man builds and in doing so builds himself.
We will discuss with the masters of yesterday and today, from Vitruvio to Libeskind, passing through Torroja, Gio Ponti, Nervi. From the cathedrals of the Middle Ages to the completion of the Sagrada Familia, from the Roman aqueducts to the modern bridges with great light, from the small houses in wood and earth to the skyscrapers of the megalopolis of today. From stone to 3D printing, through concrete and steel. The exhibition will be the occasion to immerse oneself in the great eternal challenge, that of the builder man, making all participants in his evolution. An adventure that has always been characterized by the achievements achieved by new materials and by the progress of scientific knowledge, now transformed more than ever by digital technologies.
Inside each work you will discover the great challenges, the limitations, the unexpected, the successes and the failures. In balance between intuition and scientific rigor, art and technique.
