I TOOK YOU AS MY OWN. ENZO PICCININI
Exhibition promoted by the Committee for the Celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of the Heavenly Ascent of the Servant of God Enzo Piccinini and the Enzo Piccinini Foundation
Who was Enzo Piccinini? From the outside, he appeared as a “force of nature,” a man who slept little, traveled a lot, worked hard, had strong passions, and entered other people’s lives, a courageous and provocative man.
Yet behind all this, for those who had the opportunity to glimpse inside the phenomenon, emerged a man totally enthusiastic because he was radically embraced and therefore infinitely religious. The temperament and indomitable character moved by the only thing that matters, “the divine restlessness of unsatisfied souls,” had found their most congenial environment in the encounter with an integrally human “carnal” Christian experience: from here, an explosive mixture progressively gave way to the spectacular aspects to make more and more room for what enthused him, the embrace of Christ that came forcefully into his life through the unique friendship with Father Luigi Giussani: an encounter “that changed his very nature, even certain traits of his temperament, while exalting others.”
After a brief introduction through selected texts, photos, audio, and video, the exhibition aims to offer a deep dive into some central aspects that characterized Enzo’s life, letting him and some witnesses speak. The journey is divided into five parts: “The Heart in Everything,” “One Must Not Be Alone,” “Without Measure,” “Self-Offering,” “Until Now.”
