EDUCATION IS NOT ACCUMULATION: NON-COGNITIVE SKILLS
In collaboration with the Parliamentary Intergroup for Subsidiarity
Giorgio de Rita, General Secretary of Censis; Francesco Filini, Member of Parliament for Fratelli d’Italia; Simona Malpezzi, Senator (PD); Raffaella Paita, Senator (Italia Viva); Stefano Patuanelli, M5S Senate Leader; Gabriele Toccafondi, Head of Iride Observatory; Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit. Introduced by Sandro Bicocchi, Director of PwC’s Study Office and Vice President of the Foundation for Subsidiarity.
The approval of the law on Non-Cognitive Skills finally opens the possibility for recognized and state-promoted didactic experimentation of what many teachers already practice. Mental openness, collaboration, goal-oriented work, confidence, conscientiousness, openness to experience… these are skills that can be educated with dedicated programs increasingly in demand in the labor market. The approval of the law also introduces a new relationship between the school world and the labor market in view of this type of training.
