Wolf Maryanne

Maryanne Wolf, is one of the most famous cognitive neuroscientists. She was born on October 25, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana (United States of America).

Studies
She graduated in English literature from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame (1969); she then obtained a master’s degree from Northwestern University (1970) and a PhD from Harvard University (1979), in the Department of Human Development and Psychology in the Graduate School of Education. She taught at Tufts University in Boston. She is a scholar of reading, and in particular of dyslexia. She currently teaches at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).

Career
She is Presidential Fellow of Chapman University and Member of the Board of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University.

In 2020, Pope Francis appointed her a full member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. She is Director of the Center for Dyslexia, Diverse Learners, and Social Justice, Professor-in-Residence, Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
