FOR WHOM THE STARS EXIST. THE JOURNEY OF PROGETTO ARCA ALONGSIDE THE POOR

Curated by Giuseppe Frangi

Promoted by Fondazione Progetto Arca

In Italy, 70,000 people live without a fixed abode. According to Istat’s report, almost two million families are in absolute poverty, therefore without the guarantee of two daily meals. It was to respond to this great need that the Progetto Arca Foundation was born 30 years ago, an experience stemming from the charisma of Brother Ettore Boschini. But at the heart of the action of the Foundation’s operators and volunteers, there is not only intervention in emergencies. The attention towards the people helped aims at accompanying them beyond, towards a normality of living conditions.

The exhibition narrates this trajectory by making visitors undertake an experiential journey. At the heart of Fondazione Progetto Arca ETS’s culture is the awareness that fragility is a condition from which no one is immune: we are all “fragile.” On the other hand, we are all eager for beauty to invest our lives.

The journey opens by making visitors experience “fragility” through highly emotional installations and closes with an extraordinary video created with a group of homeless people who starred in a performance under the guidance of Marco Martinelli, director and founder of the Teatro delle Albe.
