A PRESENCE FOR PEACE. OPENING MEETING
At this historical moment, we face an escalation of conflicts and wars that, until a few years ago, seemed unimaginable. The Holy Land itself is devastated by a conflict so deep that reconciliation appears utopian. Every day, the question dramatically arises: how is it possible to live with pain, suffering, and lack of prospects, facing hatred, violence, and indifference to evil? Is there a way that, amidst the most atrocious tribulations, can open a horizon of hope and share buds of peace?
MENTAL DISTRESS AND COMPASSION
THE VALUE OF WORK: AN URGENT SEARCH
The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly transformed our way of living and working, bringing to the fore new questions about the sense and value of work in our daily lives. This meeting aims to explore whether work is still a vocation that responds to a deep human need or simply a tool to meet material needs. Particular attention will be paid to the new generations, seeking a balance between private life and professional commitment, reflecting a desire for harmony and meaning in their work path.
INEQUALITY: THE PRICE WE ALL PAY
José Manuel Durão Barroso, former President of the European Commission and Non-Executive President of Goldman Sachs International; Branko Milanović, Economist, one of the world's most renowned experts on inequality, Professor at the City University of New York. Introduction by Samuele Rosa, Senior Economist at the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and Foundation for Subsidiarity.
Economy is often thought to produce a kind of single thought starting from the paradigm of classical economics centered on the agent who maximizes consumption under budget constraints and the firm that maximizes profit given technologies. It is assumed that the historical form of the market economy that modern capitalism has taken should somehow lay the foundation for shared prosperity. In reality, this is not the case. Firstly, inequalities, particularly within countries, are increasing enormously. Moreover, the history of economic thought is much richer in reflections on how economic development brings inequalities and what policies need to be implemented to reduce them. We will discuss this with Professor Milanović, the world-renowned economist for his analyses of rising inequalities, who has recently enriched his work by revisiting the major classical economists to reveal their views on this topic; and we will ask the former President of the European Commission Barroso what economic and social policies have been implemented, in Europe and beyond, to address this problem.
THE CARE OF LIFE
Having an "incurable" disease does not coincide with being in an "untreatable" condition, meaning it is always possible to care for a person with a disease, even when chronic and progressive, or with disabilities. The care of life does not provide the sick person with an automatic answer to the "why" that arise, particularly to the "why" they found themselves in such a dramatic condition, which they did not choose. Care relationships can, however, support the patient's freedom in searching for meaning and the essential, a search that often erupts in a cry in moments characterized by such suffering that it can be annihilating. In the "common vulnerable humanity," as the nurse founder of palliative care Cicely Saunders said, the condition of those being cared for and those who care promotes a path of searching, which can become acceptance of the present moment and the blossoming of hope within a limit. It is as if certain "constraints," rather than limiting the expression of freedom, put it in the best conditions to express itself. The initiator of Italian Pediatric Palliative Care Franca Benini, and palliative oncologist Cristiano Ferrario will recount how, in their experience, there have been "care" of patients and families where a fascinating relationship and gaze occurred.
THE JOURNEY TO THE ESSENTIAL IN CORMAC MCCARTHY
The novels of Cormac McCarthy are for many an absolute experience, capable of leading to the incandescent threshold of the mystery of existence, not in abstract terms, but through a language adherent to the concreteness of matter and human action. We talk about it with two exceptional readers, Stas' Gawronski and Alessandro Zaccuri, stimulated by readings from the great literature of the American writer.
HOW TO CONSERVE, USE, AND SHARE SUCH A PRECIOUS RESOURCE AS WATER?
From personal to industrial use to water management, a precious resource unevenly distributed across the territory. Comparisons of testimonies and work hypotheses.
With the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
THE CANTICLE OF THE CREATURES OF ST. FRANCIS
In 1224 Francis of Assisi lost his strength, his sight, his voice, his life. And what does he want to make memorable? A thought? A rule? No, a poem. A text that combines praise to the Creator with praise for creatures. He dictates it to his companions so they can sing it, take it with them, offer it to themselves and the world. Today, 800 years later, those words continue to be a torch-text to be passed around, a breath-text to be shared in good and difficult times, a hymn to sisterhood and cosmic fraternity, an invitation to recognize the symphony of creation and the song that vibrates in each of our hearts.
THE CHALLENGE OF PREVENTION, KEY TO A SUSTAINABLE HEALTH SYSTEM
The meeting aims to emphasize the importance of prevention as a fundamental element for a sustainable healthcare system. Through constructive dialogue, participants will explore innovative and shared strategies to promote a culture of prevention, ensuring a better quality of life and greater sustainability of the healthcare system.
A DEEP IMMERSION. CREATING AN ARTWORK TOGETHER
River's Dream by Curran Hatleberg is a courageous work that engaged its author for ten years, during which he immersed himself in a reality completely foreign to him, both from a natural and social point of view. But Hatleberg does not conceive his work as the result of an isolated artist, but as a dynamic of collaboration, first with the portrayed subjects, then with the publisher and the book's printer. A dialogue to learn how a great photographic book is born.

TALENT, LEADERSHIP, AND DEDICATION: WHAT IS ESSENTIAL TO CREATE A GOOD WORK PROJECT?
Elia Bonacina, CEO of Bonacina 1889; Alessandro Gilmozzi, Michelin-starred chef and President of Ambassadors of Taste; Davide Rondoni, poet. Moderation by Sergio Luciano, Director of Economy
The meeting explores the human qualities that guide ambitious projects to success: the importance of talent, leadership, and dedication, which are essential to bringing concrete, significant, and functional works to life. A precious opportunity to draw inspiration from successful experiences, with the participation of prominent figures in various fields.
RESTLESS HEARTS: YOUNG PEOPLE DISCOVERING SOCIAL WORKS AND THE WORLD
Bernardo Archidi, university student; Fabio Della Vecchia, head of the therapeutic community; Adele Tellarini, technical manager of the Casa Novella project; Irene Zangrandi, university student. Moderation by Monica Poletto, Coordinator of the Legislative Technical Table of the Third Sector Forum
Social works, in Italy and around the world, can constitute a privileged entry point to a reality different from our own, full of needs, wounds, but also embrace and welcome, which we often do not know. What discovery do young people make of themselves and the world when they encounter them? And what change do these young people bring to those who receive them and must make space for them? We want to discuss this with two students who have had experiences abroad, a young person who discovered a professional path through civil service, and a founder who opened up to the richness and diversity that young people brought to the work she leads.
TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND
Dialogue with Hussam Abu Sini, responsible for CL in the Holy Land; Andrea Babbi, President of the Petroniana Travel Agency and Vice President of Fiavet-Confcommercio; Adriano Rusconi, doctor. Moderation by Emanuele Boffi, Director of Tempi
Don Giussani's pilgrimage – narrated by Luigi Amicone in On the Trail of Christ – sheds light on the present. What is happening? To what testimony are Christians called? And what does it mean to seek the "essential" in a conflict that sees no solution?
AFRICA, ITALY, EUROPE: A NEW COOPERATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
From the pathways leading to the Global Gateway to the Mattei Plan, the urgency to build a new equal partnership between African and European countries emerges, aimed at fostering lasting and sustainable development for all. To make this possible, we must start from existing realities and success stories such as the SAY project, which will be presented in Rimini as a scalable and replicable model: a four-year project, implemented by AVSI and funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands, that has trained 18,000 young people in Uganda in the agricultural sector, giving them the opportunity to find dignified employment in the field, thanks to multiple partnerships with the private sector and an approach that places the individual at the center.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN BUSINESS. NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SCENARIOS AND CASE HISTORIES
Augusto Bianchini, President of Turtle srl; Emanuele Frontoni, Professor of Computer Science at UNIMC and Co-Director of VRAI Vision, Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Lab; Pasquale Viscanti and Giacinto Fiore, Founders of AI Week and AI Explained Simply, communicators, authors, and podcasters. Moderation by Paolo Casadei, CEO of ZAL Telecommunications, National Executive of CdO and Fabio Fraticelli COO TechSoup Italy, Coordinator of CdO Informatica Branch.
The meeting aims to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with adopting AI in the business context, through a detailed analysis of current scenarios both nationally and internationally. The focus will be on how companies can prepare and train to effectively integrate AI into their operational and strategic processes. Concrete case studies illustrating the practical implementation of AI in various scenarios will be presented, highlighting best practices and lessons learned. The event will provide an overview of emerging technologies, necessary skills, and training strategies for staff, offering participants useful tools to successfully face the digital and innovative transformation of their organizations.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: NO SCREEN NEEDED TO GROW SMART
Over the past two decades, digital development has radically transformed every aspect of our daily lives: always-connected digital devices, the spread of social platforms, and the evolution of personalized information algorithms permeate our lives, often without us being fully aware. In such a scenario, digital devices are the container, not the content, which today is selected, processed, and often generated by Artificial Intelligence algorithms. The society that lies ahead of us is one where human interaction will increasingly be mediated by digital devices connected to complex and opaque services managed by global companies. It is therefore crucial to develop not only critical thinking – the result of understanding the object concerning its purpose – but also adequate skills to face the future. This meeting hosts a dialogue between a computer scientist, a developmental psychologist, and a digital education expert, to help us shed light on the educational task that awaits us. We want to first better understand the technologies around us, then discuss, based on the scientific evidence of recent years, the interaction between minors and screens, and the role of society, parents, and schools in educating to live well in a digitalized world.

DEBT SUSTAINABILITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Public accounts in the red, the lowest salaries in Europe, struggling entrepreneurial fabric, demographic winter. These are shadows over the future of our country. What kind of development are we heading towards? Will the welfare state continue to be an integral part of it? Among the tools to relaunch growth, what role can technology, the common European debt, and the credit system play?
BETWEEN IMAGES AND LIGHTS: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN CINEMA AND ANIMATION
Since the first drawings in caves, humans have always been fascinated by telling and listening to stories. Today, the stories told on the big screen are created by an army of technicians and artists to allow the viewer a total immersion in imaginary or realistic worlds through special effects. Starting from our first encounter with this art form, we want to question what our creativity means in another's work and storytelling for our lives.
With the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
WHO ARE YOU? THE CHALLENGE OF JERUSALEM
Schmitt's conversion to Christianity, initially born as a theoretical option, takes flesh in this journey to the Holy Land to a mystical revelatory event experienced with transport during the visit to the Holy Sepulcher. The change from the abstract to the human illuminates a path for coexistence between different traditions and beliefs.
IF WE ARE NOT AFTER THE ESSENCE, THEN WHAT ARE WE AFTER?
Numerous and incisive are the questions that arise from the growing existential uncertainty of many young and not-so-young people, the fragmentation of social life, an unreliable future, and the increase in conflict and increasingly atrocious wars. Too often, those who let themselves be defined by these and other problems respond with distraction or resignation or with ideological aggression and stubbornness. But is it possible to find a horizon of meaning that allows us to face these challenges constructively, to find creative answers? It is in response to this emergency that we chose as the title of the 45th Rimini Meeting the provocation launched by the American author Cormac McCarthy: " If we are not after the essence, then what are we after".
IF YOU WANT PEACE, PREPARE FOR PEACE
"If you want peace, prepare for peace," wrote Don Primo Mazzolari, and peace is not something to be pursued after the war, but rather a task to be undertaken during it, and especially during the war. Peace, as we have learned during these nearly two and a half terrible years, years in which bombs rain down every day, is also prepared during the war with physical presence, with an embrace, with aid, with the construction of a beautiful and connected bomb shelter, even when the electricity does not work, by bringing together Italian mayors with Ukrainian mayors, and by praying for peace alongside representatives of all religions in Lviv and Kyiv. Ending the war is not within our power, but building peace is, and that is something we can do. As Pope John XXIII's Pacem in Terris reminds us, peace is not just the absence of conflict but is based on four pillars: the exercise of truth, justice, freedom, and solidarity. The same pillars on which peace is built.
With this meeting, we intend to hear testimonies that tell us how peace is being prepared in times of war in Ukraine.

FROM NEED TO INTEGRATION
The latest ISTAT Report 2024 presents an overall unpromising picture: in 2023, the incidence of absolute poverty reached 8.5% among families and 9.8% among individuals: this amounts to 2,235,000 families and 5,752,000 people in poverty. The impact of inflation, which has hit low-income families more severely, has also contributed to the deterioration. Levels never reached in the last ten years in a country marked by increasing inequalities. The round table aims to promote a vision of community welfare with the aim of finding constructive answers to the needs of the community and citizens.
POLICIES AND STRATEGIES FOR A CHANGING JOB
Marina Calderone, Minister of Labor and Social Policies; Marco Hannappel, President and CEO of Philip Morris Italy; Bernardo Mattarella, CEO of Invitalia; Eliana Viviano, Head of the Labor Market Division, Department of Economics and Statistics, Bank of Italy. Introduction by Andrea Dellabianca, President of the Compagnia delle Opere
While employment has reached record levels in Italy, institutions, companies, and intermediary bodies must continue to question how to engage marginalized groups, especially women and NEETs, and how to make work more productive. In this context, training and skills play a fundamental role in promoting growth, reducing the gap between labor supply and demand, and stimulating innovation, especially in a phase of great technological transformation as imposed by artificial intelligence. At the same time, companies are confronted with a constantly evolving scenario regarding the balance between private life and professional commitment, welfare measures, continuous training, and inclusiveness, aspects that are increasingly relevant for workers, particularly the new generations.
LIVE LONGER, LIVE BETTER? WELFARE AT A CROSSROADS
Gabriele Fava, President of Inps; Sabina Nuti, Rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa; H.E. Mons. Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life; Giorgio Vittadini, President of the Foundation for Subsidiarity. Moderation by Enrico Castelli and Irene Elisei
The universalistic welfare system, with health services, assistance to the most vulnerable and needy, education for all, regardless of income, can no longer guarantee a quality response to citizens' needs. The 2024 Talk of the Foundation for Subsidiarity addresses the issue by looking at the most concrete aspects, such as the care of the elderly, nurseries, and reception. The first episode outlines the context starting from the assumption that welfare is the basis for the integral development of a country and must be preserved not only for the well-being of citizens but also because it contains the source code of public happiness and democracy.
SOLIDITY OF NODES AND MOBILITY OF NETWORKS
There is a tangible connection between physical infrastructure (with its nodes and morphological peculiarities) and the local networks of relationships that compose communities and constitute true networks of proximity, resilience, and solidarity. This highlights how the role of mobility actors is central to the development of territories, both socially and economically. Physical networks as a prerequisite for social and relational networks.
IT IS GOOD THAT THE FAMILY IS NOT ALONE. SUPPORTING ALIVE ALLIANCES
Mario Bolzan, Professor of Social Statistics, University of Padua; Elena Donazzan, Member of the European Parliament; Maria Gloria Riva, biblical scholar, writer; Giuseppe Salvato, Vice President of the Association Nonni 2.0; Luigi Sbarra, Secretary General of CISL. Moderation by Domenico Menorello, associative network “Ditelo sui tetti”
Many young people who want to start a family are forced to face significant problems that make it difficult to achieve this desire. Statistics themselves show that young families need companionship for this vocation. Overcoming the demographic winter requires vital alliances, such as with the generations of grandparents, in the workplace, in educational and school paths. And to promote this type of "alliances," some subsidiary reform proposals can become an important lever.
THERE ARE NO MORE TRANQUIL CHRISTIANS
"There is nothing more distant from Christianity than empty optimism and sentimentality that afflict many Catholics and hide the evil in the world" (Flannery O’Connor). A path on the joyful task of delivering to history the accomplished beauty of the Christian faith and the task of responding to the cultural challenges of modernity.

GETTING TO WORK: WHEN WORK DOES NOT BECOME PERFORMANCE
Riccardo Capecchi, president of Lottomatica Foundation; Giacomo Perletti, founder of Contrada Bricconi; Paolo Prosperi, priest of the Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo. Moderation by Francesco Cassese, Management Consultant, Miror Consulting
In today's society, work life is often conceived as a continuous performance, leading individuals to self-consumption that inevitably results in burnout. This phenomenon invites a deep reflection on how we can positively interpret the balance between work and personal life, especially in light of the changes induced by post-COVID.
THE COURAGE OF THE FAMILY
Dialogue with Gigi De Palo, General Director of the Angelini Foundation. Moderation by Paolo Perego, journalist of Tracce
His experience as a husband and father; his frontline commitment to witnessing the value of the family, the cornerstone of society. What is "essential" in marriage, in the relationship with children, and in everyday work to serve the common good and future generations?
FIGHT AGAINST DISINFORMATION
Mattia Caniglia, Atlantic Council; Marco Cartasegna, CEO TORCHA; Jessica Cupellini, Head of Strategic Communication Office at MAECI; Andrea Nicolai, Digital Media Observatory; Giulia Pozzi, Newsguard. Moderated by Samuele Cofano, United Nations Action Campaign on the Sustainable Development Goals.
The panel dedicated to disinformation will involve MAECI, Torcha, IDMO (Italian Digital Media Observatory), NewsGuard, and the Atlantic Council. The goal is to illustrate the Italian position and coordination with European and like-minded partners (G7, NATO) in combating disinformation, with a particular focus on European elections and the narratives and techniques of information manipulation carried out by hostile actors.
THE NEW PROFESSIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL SUPPLY CHAIN (4+2): RETHINKING TECHNICAL TRAINING
Ezio Busetto, School Principal IIS “Antonio Della Lucia” Feltre; Carlo Carabelli, CEO and General Director of ASLAM Social Cooperative; Arduino Salatin, Professor at the Salesian University Institute IUSVE Venice; Mario Salerno, President of the Edutecne Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of the Vasilij Grossman Foundation. Moderation by Mauro Monti, School Principal and Vice President of Di.S.A.L. Association
As a national experiment, the new and innovative professional technological supply chain will start in September 2024 with the aim of offering students training close to the needs of the labor market that facilitates, at the same time, the continuation of studies in tertiary education paths of ITS, with the final achievement, in six years, of a title of high technical specialization. An integrated offer that includes and connects technical and vocational institute paths, vocational education and training (IeFP) paths, accredited training institutions by the Regions, and ITS Academy, enhancing the connection with the territory, businesses, and professional activities.
STORIES OF REBIRTH IN TAIWAN
In Taiwan, 180 km from China, Catholics are a small flock of 150,000 people out of 23 million inhabitants. In the global home of microchips, faith, through the encounter with the Communion and Liberation movement and the missionaries of the Fraternity of St. Charles, generates moving and miraculous stories like those narrated in the Acts of the Apostles.
LIGHT AND DARKNESS. THE CUSTODY OF THE HOLY PLACES AND THE PATH OF MEETING
Carla Benelli, art historian, responsible for the cultural heritage conservation projects of the Pro Terra Sancta Association; Alessandro Coniglio, Professor of Old Testament Exegesis, Studium Biblicum Franciscanum, Jerusalem; Vincenzo Zuppardo, architect and curator of the exhibition. Moderation by Andrea Avveduto, Head of Communication for Pro Terra Sancta
A meeting to tell and rediscover the value of the custody of the Holy Places in the Middle East. One hundred years after the construction of the basilicas of Mount Tabor and Gethsemane, we want to reflect on the conservation of cultural heritage and the custody of the basilicas as a sign of Christian hope, in addition to the involvement of local craftsmen and communities encouraged by Pro Terra Sancta. In such a dramatic moment for the Holy Land, looking at the message of the Holy Places and the conservation work of the architect Antonio Barluzzi means rediscovering the mission of the Custody as a path of dialogue and peace.
THE CARE AND VALUE OF HOSPITALITY
Dario Bolis, Communication Director of Fondazione Cariplo; Rosanna Di Federico, beneficiary of the activities of the Cilla Association; Maria Rosaria Feoli, beneficiary of the activities of the Cilla Association; Alberto Garaventa, Head of the Pediatric Oncology Unit at the Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa; Luca Petrolo, President of the Cilla Association. Moderated by Stefano Gheno, President of CdO Social Works.
At the end of the meeting, the docufilm 'Con un battito di ciglia' will be screened, written by Andrea Frassoni and Marco Falorni, who also directed it, produced by Libero Produzioni in collaboration with Rai Documentari and La Meridiana, under the patronage of AISLA. The direct testimony of welcoming people going through the delicate moment of their own or a family member's illness through the direct experience of volunteers (what moves them) and beneficiaries (what they encounter). A sharing that becomes culture: hospitality as a concrete gesture of people who, meeting the needs of others, do not assist but share, a way of understanding hospitality that, while starting from a particular need, becomes attention, a look at the person as such.

1914: A TRUCE, A PROMISE?
The testimonies of those who were protagonists of the Truce narrate one of the most touching Christmas stories, capable of breaking even the stone hearts of men in our time. These are extraordinary events that deserve to be celebrated every year to strengthen the certainty that all this was and still is possible. For this reason, they cannot and must not be forgotten. We want to rediscover that men with different conceptions, ideas, and intentions can come together if they know how to seek the essential.

MADE IN ITALY AND PRODUCTION CHAINS
Francesco Maria Chelli, President of ISTAT; Andrea Dellabianca, President of the Compagnia delle Opere; Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile; Luigi Sbarra, Secretary General of Cisl; Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy. Introduction by Luciano Fontana, Director of Corriere della Sera.
The Italian government recognizes that the development of Made in Italy, both nationally and internationally, is guaranteed by the supply chains composed of large companies capable of operating globally, involving small and medium local enterprises with high production capacity. This combined system favors the development of Made in Italy. However, the current trend of involving poorly controlled foreign productions puts working conditions at risk. Development on Italian territory would allow greater control of the supply chain and higher quality, although at higher costs. The issue of subcontracting often delegates responsibilities to small companies that may not fully comply with the standards. It is essential to identify what makes Made in Italy of quality and sanction those who do not respect labor rules, as the focus remains on the dignity of work.
IN SEARCH OF THE “PROMISED LAND” IN BIBLICAL THOUGHT
The Promised Land in biblical thought is not just a territory. It is a metaphor for the essence of life. The search for the Promised Land, the journey to the Promised Land, is not geographical. It is not limited in time and space. It is a spiritual exploration, a journey that accompanies a person from birth to death.
THE ENERGY SECURITY OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
The global energy crisis has highlighted the resilience problem of the current energy system to geopolitical shocks. In this context, the role of our country proves potentially decisive, especially from a European perspective, with the current executive's goal of making Italy the energy hub of the Mediterranean. Moreover, these shocks have occurred within a challenging energy transition process, where the role of gas as a bridge fuel will be necessary, but at the same time, an increase in demand for raw materials necessary to achieve environmental goals is foreseeable. In this sense, only states capable of linking to the new supply chain for the transition will bear lower costs; others, on the contrary, will fall behind and pay much higher prices.
WHAT IS THE GOOD FACE OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION?
Most of the time, in both public and private dialogues, the term public administration assumes a negative connotation. Nouns like bureaucracy, control, inspection, authorization, permit, concession (etc.) do not arouse great sympathy among citizens and businesses. The state's administration, however, has the task of translating political decisions into operational ones; it is moreover constituted by different dimensions, from the central to the peripheral level, closer to the citizen. The capacity of PA managers thus also depends on the most constructive aspects of social and economic life in a territory. The attractiveness of a territory, the reliability of a central or peripheral structure, attention to the person, and growth are central elements for good administration. We will ask our interlocutors to testify how the "good face of PA" can emerge.
NOTHING HUMAN IS ALIEN TO ME. LUIGI GIUSSANI AND LITERATURE
PATHS TO PEACE
Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; S.E. Mons. Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Introduction and moderation by Bernhard Scholz, President of the Meeting Foundation for Friendship among Peoples ETS
A unique opportunity for constructive confrontation and shared reflection on crucial issues related to peace and international cooperation, with the aim of promoting greater mutual understanding and identifying concrete actions to build a safer and more supportive world. From the Meeting, a message will be launched to the entire world: a message of friendship among peoples, essential today more than ever.
THE BEST CONDITIONS TO COMBINE WORK, PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, PRIVATE AND SOCIAL LIFE
Change is a constant in professional life, influenced by mega trends such as globalization, technological innovation, demographics, and ecological transition, as well as phenomena like the "great resignation" and the "great reshuffle." People seek better working conditions, which include a better work-life balance and career advancement opportunities. The research by Randstad Research and the Foundation for Subsidiarity analyzes the factors and potential interventions that qualify and respond to the desire to find a proper balance between personal and work life, while at the same time, the factors that enable the development of professionalism.
THE ESSENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. TOOL OR LIMIT FOR FREEDOM?
Will Artificial Intelligence change the world? And if it does, will it change it for better or for worse? This question is now at the top of all political, economic, moral, and legal agendas on our planet. Pope Francis himself dedicated his message for peace this year to the theme of AI and reiterated his thoughts before the heads of state of the G7 in Puglia. Like any novelty produced by human ingenuity, AI can be a factor of growth and development but, at the same time, like any occasion when human power grows, it requires proportional responsibility.

THE STATES ARE NO LONGER SO UNITED. MENDING THE TEARS OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY
American democracy seems to be going through a phase of crisis, marked by the polarization of political discourse, the difficulty of finding areas for dialogue, and even the legitimization of violence as a method for resolving social conflicts. The root of these pathologies does not lie only in the inadequacy of the ruling class or in a general disaffection of citizens for the debate. Feeding the wound is the disengagement from the places that form the fabric of civic life. The thinning out of participation transforms a community of people into aggregates of solitary and uprooted individuals, thus exposed to the false promises of ideology and the noise of propaganda.
THE TRUE SECRET OF EVOLUTION: FROM COMPETITION TO COLLABORATION
Can the environment interfere with DNA? Is there an adaptation to the environment that acts on the genome? And what are the consequences in the onset of tumors and other diseases? Many phenomena in nature show that mutations do not occur only by chance, struggle, and selection but also by adaptability, acceptance, and altruism.

Moderated by Enrico Castelli and Irene Elisei
The second episode of the Talk highlights the possible contribution of the Third Sector in the provision of public utility services to the person. The collaboration between public and private non-profit organizations, with initiatives linked to the territory and the community, are already a fundamental resource to be investigated.
ROCK’N’SOUL: STORIES OF MUSIC AND SPIRITUALITY
The life stories of ten music stars mix with their inner and spiritual paths. Noemi Serracini tells how and to what extent art is a means of listening to the deepest meditative and spiritual dimension of every person. Through the experiences of George Harrison, Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Tori Amos, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Sinéad O’Connor, Nick Cave, and PJ Harvey.
FAMILY: PLACE OF HOPE
Given the historical contingencies, it is essential to represent the family as the primary place for building peace that arises from living a dimension of acceptance of the other's diversity, which manifests itself in the experience of forgiveness. This experience lived in the family can affect and extend to social and political contexts and thus have an impact on history. The stories of families grafted into solidarity networks testify to this novelty.
THE JUBILEE 2025
The Jubilee of 2025 puts the issue of hope back at the center as an anchor of trust that can help not to be overwhelmed by the fears and difficulties looming on the horizon of our future. It is an invitation to a change of mentality that challenges the conscience of every individual. But as the exhibition "Jubilees. The forgiveness that gives back life" documents, the fragility and desire for the good of every self refers to the way of managing relationships with everyone. It questions our capacity for hospitality, solicits the will to mend the conflicts that tear the fabric of human society.

THE BIRTH OF PLANETARY SYSTEMS: DISCOVERING THE DIVERSITY OF WORLDS
One of the most fascinating areas of contemporary astrophysics is understanding how the laws of nature and the physical and chemical conditions of the universe have led to the formation of the Earth, the solar system, and the countless planetary systems around distant stars. Thanks to new instruments from both the ground and space, we are now able to directly observe the birth of new planets and gather detailed information about the surprising variety and richness that characterize planetary systems outside our solar system. Guided by two of the leading figures in the field at an international level, we will be introduced to some recent discoveries, thanks to which we are beginning to understand the process of the birth and evolution of planets, thereby also broadening our perspective on the origins of the planet we inhabit.

NUTRITION AND HEALTH IN AFRICA: A NECESSARY COMBINATION
Dante Carraro, Director of the NGO Doctors with Africa CUAMM; Biagio Di Terlizzi, Deputy Director of CIHEAM BARI; Daniela Fatarella, General Director of Save The Children – Italy. Testimony of Bernard Kakala,CUAMM doctor at the chronic disease clinic of Tosamaganga Hospital – Tanzania.. Moderated by Stefano Gatti, Director General for Development Cooperation
In the African continent, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases are on the rise due to unhealthy eating behaviors and lifestyles, including dietary imbalances caused by foods of poor nutritional value and excessive carbohydrates (WHO, 2022). This is a significant challenge for the sustainable growth of the African continent and the health of its population. In this context, international development cooperation can play a crucial role by bringing together knowledge and expertise in the medical and agricultural fields. The re-discovery of traditional agricultural products, considered more nutritious and resilient to climate change, the higher nutraceutical value of traditional recipes, the adoption of healthier and more balanced diets, as well as the prevention and treatment of diseases are all aspects that – if addressed holistically – can improve the health conditions and well-being of rural communities in Africa, particularly those that are fragile and vulnerable. At the same time, strengthening the food-health nexus can help address the main challenges for children's food security and their growth. CIHEAM Bari, Doctors with Africa CUAMM, and Save the Children Italy will discuss these issues together.
ADOLESCENTS AND YOUTH IN DISTRESS: A QUESTION FOR EDUCATORS
Luigi Ceriani, psychologist and psychotherapist, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan; Federico Pichetto, director of the theological training school, Diocese of Chiavari. Moderated by Emiliano Monzani, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Director of Psychiatry 1, Asst Bergamo Ovest.
The emergence of distress among adolescents and young people is an expression of a broader crisis, linked to the epochal change of recent decades and the associated educational, social, and cultural factors. The prevention of disorders is not only a clinical issue but concerns the community, family, school, and social network. More than a general discussion on the topic, the experience of those who are in the field, educating, accompanying, and caring for young people, with their need for meaning, often in the shadows, in the gray area between distress and disorder, is interesting. Meeting young people also raises the issue of competence, which is relevant both for the available professional and for any adult figure capable of listening.
THE VOICE OF VOLUNTEERING
In collaboration with Avsi
Dialogue with Caterina Candolo, Head of Avsi Point in Palermo; Elena Ricci, Community Engagement Avsi; Simona Sirena, Head of Avsi Point in Rimini. Moderated by Mariacqua Simi, Journalist of Tracce
CL movement has always proposed the "charitable work" as one of the foundations of its educational path. We meet the stories of those who dedicate their free time to an act of gratuity such as the Tende Campaign: what is the benefit for their own life? And how does it impact society?
COMPANY OF WORKS: A STORY IN PROGRESS
Andrea Dellabianca, President of Compagnia delle Opere; Davide Prosperi, President of Fraternity of Communion and Liberation. Introduced by Giuseppe Frangi, journalist of Vita
“Compagnia delle Opere” is a fascinating name that sometimes gets overshadowed by the acronym Cdo. A galaxy of Works in company that aims to highlight a concept where the entrepreneur is not a lone man in charge but part of a history. Being in company is not just the result of a good and concrete solidarity perspective, as documented by the episode of the Alcamo cooperative, which is at the origin of the history of Compagnia delle Opere; being in company also means being reminded every moment of the meaning of action, the ultimate purpose of what one does. It is that "essential" proposed in the title of this year’s Meeting and that comes into play even in the daily and concrete dimension of a reality like Compagnia delle Opere.
THE SEA INSIDE
Dialogue with Claudio Burgio, Chaplain of the Juvenile Prison Beccaria in Milan and Paolo Tosoni, Criminal Lawyer. Moderated by Davide Perillo, Journalist
A journey into the experience of those who deal every day with the need for justice, prison, pain, and reconciliation. Because the discovery of freedom and forgiveness is vital: for those who are "inside" and those who are "outside".

Emanuele Frontoni, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Macerata, and Co-Director of VRAI (Vision Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Lab); Pier Cesare Rivoltella, Professor of Didactics and Educational Technologies at the University of Bologna, Founder and President of SIREM (Italian Society for Research on Media Education). Moderated by Paolo M.G. Maino, School Principal and Head of Training at the DiSAL Association.
Artificial intelligence is already changing the way schools operate and can help teachers respond to the needs of students. What impact does AI-mediated technology have on students' ability to study, reason, and develop critical thinking? What is the challenge that school leaders, educators, and students are called to face?

“FRANCESCA CABRINI”

Sent by Pope Leo XIII to New York to assist the waves of Italian immigrants flooding Ellis Island, she proved to be extremely shrewd and determined. Highly skilled at opening hearts and wallets, she managed to found numerous hospitals and orphanages dedicated to Italian-Americans. She was the first American citizen to be canonized, in 1946. “ACQUA” SHOW BY GIOVANNI MADDALENA, NICOLA ABBATANGELO, AND GIAMPIERO PIZZOL. DIRECTED BY NICOLA ABBATANGELO
"Acqua" is a tragicomedy in a single act. In an imaginary seaside town, with a dam rising behind it, it has been raining non-stop for days. In the bar of the main square, a group of friends take refuge and get lost in chatter, amid small spites and gossip, while the water level on the streets rises inexorably. The group is joined by the town's dignitaries, mainly concerned with calming people down about the water threat. Bar chatter turns into accusations and fake news. In a progression of increasingly frantic speeches and events, lies quickly become ideology. And everyone must decide their own destiny. Directed by Nicola Abbatangelo. Dramaturgy by Giovanni Maddalena, Giampiero Pizzol, and Nicola Abbatangelo. Music by Fabrizio Mancinelli. With Elisabetta Tulli, Andrea Maria Carabelli, Giampiero Pizzol, Giampiero Bartolini, Matteo Bonanni, Gianluca Reggiani, Daniele Romualdi, Laura Berardi, Diego Becce. Scenes by Annalisa di Giuli. Lights and Audio by Mattia Silvagni, Matteo Dalmonte, Officinateatro Srl. Production by Wonderage Production srl and Compagnia Bella.

THE GREAT BETRAYAL: LOST AND FOUND YOUTHS
Francesco Belletti (Director, CISF - Italian Family Studies Center), Maria Teresa Bellucci (Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policies), Silvio Cattarina (Founder and President, Social Cooperative L'Imprevisto), Elio Cesari (President, CNOS - National Salesian Works Center); Dario Odifreddi, President of the Work Schools Consortium. Introduction by Stefano Gheno (President, Cdo Social Works).
The increasing fragility in our society is evident, with a particular emphasis on the "pain of living" experienced by younger generations, often manifesting as violence towards oneself and others. It appears adults have lost the courage to face this issue, abdicating their educational responsibilities or succumbing to seemingly hopeless behaviors. Hope, however, remains nurtured by those who continue to invest in the potential for youth to flourish, expressing their potential beyond their distress.
THE FIRST CAPITAL OF THE ENTERPRISE IS THE PERSON
Stefano Barrese, Head of the Banca dei Territori Division at Intesa Sanpaolo; Elena Bonetti, Member of the Italian Parliament, Azione; Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy and Finance; Maurizio Lupi, President of the Parliamentary Intergroup for Subsidiarity; Marco Osnato, Chairman of the VI Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, FdI. Introduced by Giorgio Vittadini, President of the Foundation for Subsidiarity.
While investment in machinery can be amortized, training workers is a burden borne solely by companies. The Intergroup is introducing legislative innovations aimed at closing this gap, making continuous training more relevant in Italy as well.

WHAT IS ESSENTIAL IN SUSTAINABILITY?
RIGHT TO HEALTH AND CHARITY
HOPE FOR ALL
Great books allow you to live the lives of others. Colum McCann's novel Apeirogon tells the true story of two fathers, Rami Elhanan (Israeli) and Bassam Aramin (Palestinian), who both lost their daughters to terrorism and military occupation. It's the story of two men who transformed their immense pain into concrete actions for peace and coexistence. An epic and true story narrated by a great writer, pointing to an unexpected and seemingly impossible peace in the Holy Land.
ENERGY TRANSITION: COSTS AND COMPETITIVENESS
Providing solutions to climate change represents one of the defining challenges of our time, requiring profound changes in an unfavorable macroeconomic context. As mitigating climate change is desirable and the energy transition irreversible, it will be essential to find ways to make this acceptable in terms of sustainability, security, and accessibility. The direction of this journey, which must start from the energy industry, depends significantly on the push from governments and public decision-makers to find solutions that reconcile all needs.
EUROPE: BETWEEN GROWTH AND UNCERTAINTIES
Europe is facing a crucial phase in its history. The decline of globalization and growing uncertainties demand a deep reconsideration of the European Union's growth model and institutional structure. Recent emergencies have driven European institutions to undertake numerous economic policy interventions, demonstrating the fundamental interdependence between political, economic, and institutional dimensions for Europe's development. How has Europe changed in recent years? What can we expect from the future? What economic model and institutional framework are necessary to foster Europe's growth?
TRUTH, CONSENT, BUBBLE
In the world of information, facts and opinions mix on social platforms and media, increasingly polarized positions force the debate into consensus bubbles where only like-minded individuals are addressed. The term fake news has entered common language. The ideologies of different types of political correctness have made it difficult and risky to discuss divisive or sensitive topics. Artificial intelligence has further increased the power of those who can and want to manipulate information and public opinion. Is there still space to tell the truth? And does it serve any purpose?
LIVING LONGER, LIVING BETTER? WELFARE AT A CROSSROADS
Lucia Albano (Undersecretary, Ministry of Economy and Finance), Stefano Bonaccini (Member of the European Parliament); Massimiliano Fedriga (President, Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region), Pierciro Galeone (Director, IFEL - Institute for Local Finance and Economy). Moderated by Enrico Castelli and Irene Elisei.
In the third episode of the Talk, institutions are the privileged interlocutors to whom the most relevant issues on the problems the welfare sector must face are posed. The subsidiary perspective, in which every actor involved (public, private, and non-profit) is called to give their best in a continuous collaboration relationship, is particularly discussed. What responses does politics offer to the problems raised?

FOR LIFE: A RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERYONE, A TASK FOR ALL
The theme of life struggles to assert itself. The socio-cultural context we live in increasingly sees life less as an immense and free gift and more as a performance to be carried out only under certain conditions. The meeting aims to revive the question of how to promote and (where possible) guarantee a dignified life for every person, in any situation, highlighting the responsibility of each individual up to the responsibility of those who manage public affairs.
THE CONSTITUTION AS A COMMON GOOD
Augusto Barbera (President, Constitutional Court). Introduction by Giorgio Vittadini (President, Foundation for Subsidiarity).
Can the Italian Constitution, born from a democratic and humanitarian culture, still serve as a reference point to address the historical turning points facing the country and the world today? What are its key principles to leverage, and which ones might need change?
DON CAMILLO, CHRIST, AND THE AWAKENING OF CONSCIENCE
Egidio Bandini (journalist and president, Friends of Giovannino Guareschi Group), Enrico Beruschi (director and actor), Gianni Govi (actor and director), Eugenio Martani (clarinetist), Corrado Medioli (accordionist), Daniela Negri (high school literature teacher), Giancarlo Plessi, Pastor of Besenzone (Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio).
In Brescello, in the church dedicated to Maria Nascent, stands Don Camillo's Crucifix, the talking Christ made famous by the films but much more present in the stories of Giovannino Guareschi's "Little World." Present and protagonist, capable of bringing everyone together, we want to tell you about that merciful and smiling Jesus, patient and understanding, capable of listening and suggesting the best course of action. Just like our conscience. With one difference: Don Camillo's Crucifix is God. And, unlike us humans, it can perform miracles, speaking to the soul always and only with the voice of the heart.
EDUCATING FOR RECONCILIATION
Religions and interfaith dialogue are indispensable and irreplaceable resources for true and lasting reconciliation. In the face of ideological and violent exploitation of religions marking many wars and conflicts of our time, it is crucial to witness that authentic religiosity makes one capable of inviting dialogue, overcoming prejudices, promoting collaboration, educating for reconciliation, and opening the possibility of forgiveness.

REFORM OF INITIAL AND CONTINUOUS TRAINING: ENHANCING AND QUALIFYING THE TEACHING PROFESSION
Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of University and Research; Paola Guerin, Director of CdO Educational Works; Paolo M.G. Maino, School Principal and Head of Training at Associazione Di.S.A.L.; Carmela Palumbo, Head of the Department for the Educational System of Instruction and Training at the Ministry of Education and Merit. Moderated by Carlo Di Michele, President of Associazione Diesse
The quality of education cannot overlook the quality of teachers' training and professional development. The path to becoming a teacher in Italy – notoriously long and complex – has been regulated over the years by models that have often changed, creating expectations and challenges. The training programs starting in these months mark a new approach in recruitment and qualification procedures. A multi-voiced dialogue to understand the reasons, procedures, and implementation prospects. For those who genuinely wish to teach in schools.

This is followed by interventions from Guido Calvi, AVSI Humanitarian Coordinator, and Ranieri Sabatucci, EU Ambassador to Myanmar, aiming to bring the country's situation back to general attention.
TOURISM IS ESSENTIAL FOR ITALY, BUT WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR TOURISM?
Sergio Emidio Bini (Councillor for Tourism and Productive Activities, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region), Gianluca Caramanna (Ministry of Tourism), Maria Carmela Colaiacovo (President, Confindustria Alberghi), Giuseppe Roscioli (Vice President, Federalberghi). Moderated by Daniela Ciccardi (hotelier and CDO Tourism contact person).
The experience of Covid and the post-Covid period has raised significant questions among tourism operators. How to be people, entrepreneurs, facing reality while seeking answers to less material needs: the sense of work, attention to customer needs, the sense of hospitality, how to relate to collaborators, how to share responsibilities, seek real sustainability, ... Above all, we have experienced the need not to feel alone, so seeking genuine and operational companionship with other entrepreneurs is crucial. Discovering the essential in our work in tourism is crucial: some entrepreneurs, starting from their own experience, will ask the speakers questions about their vision and the realities they represent regarding work, youth, training, social responsibility, sustainability, ethics, and solidarity.
THE AIM OF LIFE
Dialogue with Marco Maltoni (Director, Palliative Care Unit of Romagna, President, "On Cicely's Path" Association), Elvira Parravicini (Director, Neonatal Comfort Care Program, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Columbia University Medical Center), Lidia Moniava (Deputy Director, Dom s Majakom Pediatric Hospice in Moscow). Moderated by Stefano Filippi (Editor-in-Chief, Tracce).
What does it mean to accompany life in any condition? Three witnesses - from Italy, the United States, and Russia - share their daily experiences with patients and families, addressing inescapable questions and the meaning of suffering.
PRESERVING THE ESSENTIAL: URBAN REGENERATION BETWEEN IDENTITY AND RENEWAL
Mario Abbadessa (Senior Managing Director & Country Head, Hines Italy), Alberto Bonfanti (President, Portofranco Association), Giuseppe Cappochin (Architect responsible for Urban Reform and Future of the City Department, National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators), Maurizio Gasparri (Senator), Carlo Giordano Co-founder of Immobiliare.it. Moderated by Laura Bellotti, ilsussidiario.it.
Wars, earthquakes, and the aging of buildings sometimes urgently and dramatically highlight the need to intervene to rebuild what has been destroyed or damaged or to regenerate obsolete building complexes in historic city centers. The question arises of recognizing what is essential so that the uniqueness and meaning of the past are not lost, and the new reaffirms the vocation of a place for people. The "Design for Peace" exhibition offers a view of the tragedy in Ukraine and opens up the hope for peace and reconstruction, while the theme of urban regeneration calls attention to the need to redefine the values and functions of the new city.

The urgency and commitment to peace, integration among member countries, concrete responsibility for the common good, the enormous challenges of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, new international balances, and transatlantic relations are some of the global challenges of the 21st century that must be addressed to live a "human-centered, fraternal, and just" life.

A REVOLUTION OF SELF – DON GIUSSANI AND THE SIXTIES
On the occasion of the release of the book “A REVOLUTION OF SELF. Life as Communion (1968-1970)” by L. Giussani (Rizzoli). In the incandescent years of the Sixties, marking a “change of era” (Pope Francis), Don Giussani dialogues with young people, responding that only the reoccurrence of the Christian event can move modern man, generating “a revolution of self”; in the “life as communion,” liberation and a more human world become experiential.

Luigi D’Alonzo, Professor of Special Pedagogy, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan; Giulia Guglielmini, President of Fondazione per la Scuola; Matteo Severgnini, Headmaster of Regina Mundi School, Milan. Introduced by Tommaso Agasisti, Politecnico di Milano
Supporting disabled children in the educational adventure at school is a tool to lead them to the discovery of their essential self: the possibility of a path towards their fulfillment. The meeting will also present some positive or critical experiences from the perspective of parents of disabled children, from the proposing associations, to provoke questions and reflections for the invited speakers.
LANDS OF ARABIA: A DESERT FULL OF LIFE
Monsignor Aldo Berardi and Paolo Martinelli are the vicars of the Arabian Peninsula, which includes seven states, among them Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This region combines a deeply rooted Muslim faith with extraordinary modernity, also hosting an entirely migrant Christian community, including the Bishops. Pope Francis has visited these lands twice in the last three years, promoting fraternity and social friendship. The Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi, inspired by the Document on Human Fraternity, hosts a mosque, a synagogue, and a church. This year, amid the Gaza war, an extraordinary Jubilee was proclaimed to commemorate the martyrs of Arabia, Saints Areta and companions.
CNEL: PLATFORM FOR ENHANCING INTERMEDIATE BODIES
According to the Constitution, “the National Council for Economics and Labour (CNEL) is composed of experts and representatives of productive categories.” It could become a “permanent forum” where entrepreneurial, trade union, and third sector realities can dialogue with academia and institutions on crucial themes like industrial relations, sustainability of our market, productivity, wages, and the welfare system.
CHAMPIONS OF LIFE: THE ART OF GETTING BACK UP. WORLD CHAMPIONS SHARE THEIR STORIES
Giovanni De Carolis, World Boxing Champion; Stefano Maniscalco, World Karate Champion; Annalisa Minetti, Singer-songwriter and Olympic Bronze Medalist; Paolo Pizzo, World Champion in Fencing. Introductory greeting by Vittorio Bosio, President of CSI. Moderated by Luca Massaccesi, Olympic Bronze Medalist in Taekwondo and President of the National Observatory on Bullying and Youth Discomfort
Everyone faces difficult moments in life, but becoming a champion is within everyone's reach. A champion is someone who, after many defeats, finds the strength to get back up and move forward. Believing in oneself is fundamental: it means reinforcing self-esteem, consistently working towards goals, and overcoming life’s numerous challenges, despite the pessimism of those who think you won't make it. There is a crucial moment in life when you must choose whether to become a champion or not, and it is when you find yourself on the ground, without strength. The decision is whether to get up or give up. A champion always gets back up!
POPE FRANCIS, MERCY, AND MISSION
Testifying to mercy towards all, particularly the distant and marginalized, is a hallmark of Pope Francis's pontificate. Never before has the announcement of God, who always waits to welcome us, held such great missionary significance. The Church exists to enable today’s women and men to re-experience the encounters narrated in the Gospel. This is the perspective from which to read Francis's teachings, words, and gestures, aided by stories from those on the front lines, such as in Florida’s death row and those rescuing human trafficking victims.
THE BEAUTY OF WORK: A MATTER (ALSO) OF SKILLS
In the current context characterized by an increasingly competitive, fast, and digitalized economy, the continuous updating of skills, marked by innovation, is an objective that engages all involved actors, both public and private. Companies play a fundamental role, stimulating the technological update of the productive fabric and creating a context in which development and quality work can be generated. To remain competitive as a country, it is necessary to intervene to compensate for the lack of skills in various sectors and create strategies aimed at stimulating such investments.

REFORMING THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM: IS IT REALLY JUST A MATTER OF RESOURCES?
Massimo Angelelli, Director of the National Office for Health Pastoral Care; Michele Castelli, Professor of Health Policy, University of Milano-Bicocca and Foundation for Subsidiarity; Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region; Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Region; Domenico Mantoan, Director General of AGENAS (National Agency for Regional Health Services). With a video greeting from Orazio Schillaci, Minister of Health. Moderated by Marco Trivelli, Medicina e Persona
The Italian Health Service is 45 years old. Born with the aim of protecting people's health with universal criteria, it remains a precious asset, a global pride. However, it needs to be radically rethought to continue responding to people's health needs. And for this, the courage of a project is needed.

SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY: HUMAN RESOURCES OR MEN FOR NEW WORK?
H.Em. Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, President of Fondazione Fratelli tutti; Giovanna Iannantuoni, President of CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors); Cesare Pozzoli, Vice President of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation and Labor Lawyer; Roberto Ricci, President of INVALSI (National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education System); Cristiana Scelza, President of Valore D. Introduced by Francesco Occhetta, Secretary General of Fondazione Fratelli tutti
Work is rapidly and continuously changing: it's no longer enough to know facts; one must be lively, proactive, creative, humble, ready to admit mistakes and correct them, able to work with others. Not always do companies understand these new needs and lag behind. But are schools and universities understanding this? Are they changing to foster the emergence of individuals ready for this new way of working, which also involves a life full of meaning, purpose, ideals, and fraternity?

JOB TRAINING, THE WAY TO MATCH SUPPLY AND DEMAND OF FOREIGN LABOR
Rose Busingye*, Nurse and Head of Meeting Point in Kampala; Massimo Dal Checco, President of Assafrica & Mediterraneo; Andrea Dellabianca, President of Compagnia delle Opere; Giampaolo Silvestri, Secretary General of AVSI; Concluding remarks by Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Moderated by Giannino Della Frattina, Journalist at Il Giornale
Job training in the countries of origin of potential migrants, also in light of new legislative mechanisms, is proving to be a fundamental approach to facilitate the regular migration of foreign workers who intend to reach our country and to meet the labor demand of Italian companies. However, the practical implementation of this opportunity faces both opportunities and challenges. In this multi-stakeholder dialogue, various parties involved will share their perspectives to understand how to best proceed towards sustainable development for all. The agreement signed by AVSI with the Tunisian government to initiate job training projects for Tunisian citizens to be employed in Italian companies will be presented; the needs and difficulties of businesses and those offering training programs will be discussed.

MEDICINE YES, AGRICULTURE NO: WHY IS SCIENCE NOT ALWAYS SCIENCE?
Organized by ilsussidiario.net
Roberto Giacobbo, journalist and television host, science communicator; Stefano Piccolo, Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Padua and member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences; Giorgio Vittadini, President of the Foundation for Subsidiarity; Sara Zenoni, Professor of Agricultural Genetics at the University of Verona. Moderated by Enrico Castelli, journalist.
This meeting aims to delve into the value of scientific discoveries, starting with the CRISPR gene-editing technique (Nobel 2020), which is widely applied for the treatment of human diseases but is met with skepticism in agriculture, where it allows for higher yields while reducing the use of agrochemicals. Why such a clear discrepancy, and is it appropriate to reject the adoption of scientific discoveries depending on the field of application?
PARLIAMENTARISM AND DEMOCRACY: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN EXPERIENCES FROM DIFFERENT EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
The meeting aims to highlight the problems advanced democracies face in terms of parliamentary representation (which is losing weight to governments), also considering recent proposals to introduce a new form of government in Italy that seeks to have the Prime Minister directly elected by the people. This is a useful reflection to understand the dynamics of various government forms (including the European one) and the improvement prospects.

This is the red thread of the film, loosely inspired by the children's novel “On the Waves of Freedom” by Nicoletta Bortolotti (Mondadori). HOLY MASS
FROM MEN OF HONOR TO MEN OF LOVE
In ideal continuity with the 2022 exhibition on Rosario Livatino and the 2023 event on Don Giuseppe Puglisi, this meeting aims to compare the experiences of a family member of an innocent mafia victim and a man serving time for mafia crimes. Both protagonists, from opposing perspectives, have experienced the Christian encounter as a factor of paradoxical novelty. With reflections from professionals in the justice sector, the proposed dialogue intends to highlight the stages of a journey where the experienced drama can reveal itself as a factor of repentance and conversion, showing the Church's specific contribution in resisting structures of sin and mafia power, as recalled by Saint John Paul II in Agrigento and Pope Francis in Palermo.
INDIA: A NEW WORLD POWER?
India is experiencing major transformations today. While China's economic and demographic growth slows, India boasts the largest and youngest workforce. Under Narendra Modi's leadership, the country faces the challenge of strengthening its global position and maintaining the unity of a culturally and religiously fragmented society. India aims to act as a bridge between Western countries and developing ones, highlighted by collaboration with President Meloni and the invitation to the G7 in Borgo Egnazia. Despite these transformations, India remains a complex and multifaceted country yet to be fully understood.
EDUCATION IS NOT ACCUMULATION: NON-COGNITIVE SKILLS
Giorgio de Rita, General Secretary of Censis; Francesco Filini, Member of Parliament for Fratelli d’Italia; Simona Malpezzi, Senator (PD); Raffaella Paita, Senator (Italia Viva); Stefano Patuanelli, M5S Senate Leader; Gabriele Toccafondi, Head of Iride Observatory; Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit. Introduced by Sandro Bicocchi, Director of PwC's Study Office and Vice President of the Foundation for Subsidiarity.
The approval of the law on Non-Cognitive Skills finally opens the possibility for recognized and state-promoted didactic experimentation of what many teachers already practice. Mental openness, collaboration, goal-oriented work, confidence, conscientiousness, openness to experience... these are skills that can be educated with dedicated programs increasingly in demand in the labor market. The approval of the law also introduces a new relationship between the school world and the labor market in view of this type of training.

“DIVINE PROVIDENCE”. THE SEARCH FOR THE ESSENTIAL IN MOUNTAINEERING
Forty years after the opening of the historic route on the Grand Pilier d’Angle on Mont Blanc, the great mountaineer and guide Patrick Gabarrou will take us into the world of the "Mountain," ideally together in a rope team, amazed by the beauty of reality. Gabarrou reminds us that when we go to the mountains, it is beautiful to share everything, to be brothers who walk and climb desiring the absolute. His intervention is rooted in the path made at the Meeting with the exhibitions: "We are at the top! The summit of K2 and the faces of a people" in 2020 and "The Company of the Peak" in 2023.
SINGLE MARKET, EURO, PNRR: WHAT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE EU?
The European elections are behind us, but questions about the future of Europe and Italy are still open. One of the major issues is economic development characterized by the single market, the euro governed by the European Central Bank, and the Next Generation EU investment plan known in Italy as the PNRR. Three key players discuss this in a confrontation with nothing taken for granted.
CULTURAL HERITAGE AND THE REVIVAL OF VILLAGES
What is the way to give a future to the many small villages that constitute a fundamental element of the Italian cultural and human landscape? An exhibition at the Meeting gathered ten exemplary cases from South to North of villages capable of unexpected paths that project them into a possible future, addressing demographic decline and often opening the doors to the constructive presence of immigrants. These stories are case studies made possible by a push from below and territorial alliances between associations, public administration, and private enterprises. How to support such virtuous dynamics? These are the questions posed to the prominent governors attending the meeting.

In an era where small agricultural enterprises struggle to emerge, a new regulation promises to provide the necessary support to help them thrive. This change deeply resonates with the experience of Rosso Sera, a social cooperative where agriculture becomes fertile ground for the inclusion of people with disabilities. During the event, Osnato will reveal how a well-calibrated tax reform can give wings to initiatives like Rosso Sera, demonstrating that a healthy economy is the cradle of the most beautiful and meaningful works.

A JOB WORTHY OF HUMAN DESIRE. PRESENTATION OF THE GOOD WORK MANIFESTO BY CDO
Paolo Ferrario, amministratore delegato E-work spa; Sonia Malaspina, Director of Institutional Relations, Communication, and Sustainability at Danone; Alberto Sportoletti, President of Rete Manager. Introduced and moderated by Roberto Corno, Labor Consultant and Coordinator of CdO Working Group
In the epochal change we are experiencing, work is also undergoing profound transformations, not only in terms of modalities (smart work, short work weeks, artificial intelligence, etc.) but also in terms of meaning and value for everyone: workers and entrepreneurs alike. The phenomena of burnout, the great resignation, presenteeism, the difficulty in hiring, engaging, retaining, and motivating people are symptoms of the same malaise stemming from work that no longer satisfies. To once again become an expressive value of the person, work must be re-conceived by both businesses and workers. The Good Work Manifesto, which we will present and share with three key figures of this new phase, aims to be an initial proposal in this direction.
