“Who’s Across the Sea?”
“Giordano vive in un faro”, his only friend being the sea, to which he gives and receives gifts: twisted and peculiar pieces of wood resembling dragon heads and lizard legs, stones with white stripes, some even pink like children’s cheeks, and bottles of various shapes and colors – green, white, transparent – with corks and plastic caps.
Yet, to Giordano, this abundance of “things” doesn’t seem to be enough. Regularly, on scraps of newspaper and store receipts, he poses the same question to the sea: “Who’s across the sea?” Entrusting the answer to the waves inside a glass bottle.
Through the story ” Giordano vive in un faro” by Janna Carioli, the children will be taken by the hand to discover the long-awaited encounter with the other, which requires embarking on a journey and facing the open sea.
The workshop will be divided into two parts: In the first part, after reading the story, the children will create their own bottle, personalizing it with objects and materials provided during the workshop. They will decide who the bottle is for and what message to include.
The second part will see them as protagonists in creating a seascape, where, like Giordano, they will explore and recreate nuances, shapes, and colors.
