Juan José Gómez Cadenas is a physics professor at the Ikerbasque Foundation and the Donostia International Physics Center. He has dedicated most of his career to the study of neutrinos, among the most elusive particles known.

He has participated in the NOMAD, K2K, and T2K experiments and, along with other colleagues, received the Breakthrough Prize in Physics in 2016, awarded to K2K/T2K for their innovative work on neutrino oscillations. Since 2008, he has been the spokesperson for NEXT, an experiment that aims to demonstrate that the antiparticle of the neutrino is the neutrino itself. In addition to his work as a scientist, he passionately engages in science outreach. He has published five novels and two popular science books.
