Emiliano Michele
President of the Puglia Region.
Michele Emiliano, born on July 23, 1959, in Bari, is a magistrate currently on leave.
In September 2020, he was re-elected as the President of the Puglia Region for his second consecutive term, leading the center-left coalition and obtaining 867,558 valid votes, equivalent to 46.78%.
He served as the Mayor of Bari from 2004 to 2014 and was the regional secretary of the Democratic Party from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2016.
During his tenure as a public prosecutor, he handled some of the most significant trials related to the Puglia mafia. He served as a substitute prosecutor at the Anti-Mafia District Directorate in Bari and previously at the courts of Brindisi and Agrigento.
He is the father of three children: Giovanni, Francesca, and Pietro.
