The power of the powerless. Questions for Václav Havel at a distance
Edited by Ubaldo Casotto and Francesco Magni
Forty years after its publication, the current events in the core of Havel’s book, despite the changed historical circumstances, is evident: the political role of truth, the leading role of society and the force of life’s change in truth. Ideology, to defeat it, does not oppose another ideology, but a life that has the
courage of its reasons, inevitably "political". In this perspective the episode of the Ortolan is emblematic, also taken up in the choice of the route.
The exhibition is a long interview with Havel himself: the questions are formulated today, the answers taken freely from his books, to discover, through his life, words, thoughts and worries what can really mark the life of a people. Testimonials and contributions from young people who read Havel today for the first time, and from personalities who have known him will relate his words to the contemporary. The richness of his thought and the strength of his testimony are surprisingly topical. Reading Havel, reviewing it in “historical” videos, to show that they made history, everyone can compare the urgencies of today with his message: everything starts again from ourselves (from me).
