Rise and see, o soul. Painters and sculptors tell the story of Alberto Marvelli on his beatification’s tenth anniversary
Curated by Centro Documentazione “A. Marvelli” of Rimini
Alberto Marvelli (1918 – 1946) was a young teacher, engineer, professor, politician, and lover of sports. After dying tragically at the age of 28, he was beatified by John Paul II in 2004.
64 Works of Art (paintings, sculptures, and various techniques) retrace his human and spiritual journey. They express the invitation to “raise your eyes” – Levati, o anima e guarda (from Quaderni spirituali) – to know and compare yourself to the testimony of a man who lived with a “passion for greatness,” and who was able to attend to the human sufferings during the second World War.
The exhibition opens with a video (20 min), taken from the documentary Siamo fatti per il Cielo, that introduces the spectator to the biographical and cultural context of the young Blessed.
These works have been donated by the artists to the Documentation Centre “A. Marvelli” of Rimini, and can be purchased by the visitors.
